CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Warner Pacific University Men’s Soccer team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Oct. 23 – 29, the CCC announced Sunday.
Warner Pacific (12-3-2, 9-2-2 CCC) concluded its 2023 regular season yesterday on a five-game win streak. The Knights are currently tied for second with (RV) College of Idaho in the conference standings. The remaining regular season games will playout this week to determine final seeding of the 2023 CCC Men’s Soccer Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank.
Warner Pacific’s first weekend win was completed by a 3-0 shutout over Eastern Oregon University on Friday. Mateo Rusca made the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute, assisted by Bryce McCole while Chanin Orlandin added another goal 20 minutes later for the Knights. Antonio Cipriano-Oje secured the lone second half goal, assisted by Brendon Leach, to complete the victory. WPU outshot EOU by a total of 15-9. Josepher Juarez-Cruz made four saves in the net for the Knights.
The next day, Warner Pacific recorded another impressive outing with a 3-1 win against C of I. Hunter Leach scored, unassisted, for the first half’s lone goal. Chanin Orlandin, and Bryce McCole made late second half goals for the Knights to secure the weeknd's second victory. Jose Ochoa-Delgado recorded four saves in the net for the Knights.
Warner Pacific, the 2022 champions, are looking to take the tournament title again, along with the conference's second automatic berth to the NAIA Tournament. The CCC Men’s Soccer Tournament will kick off on November 6, in Springfield Ore., hosted by Bushnell University.
