CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following thirteen CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Oct. 30 – Nov. 5, 2023.
Men’s Golf – Golfer
Oregon Tech’s Xavier De La Rosa was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Golfer of the Week.
De La Rosa (71-74 – 145), a senior from Las Vegas Nev., earned runner-up honors at the PCH Invite on Tuesday. He shot a 2-under-par 34 on his inward nine against 64 total golfers, leading the Owls to a third-place overall team finish.
Women’s Golf – Golfer
Oregon Tech’s Madie Hepner was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Hepner (79-79 – 158), a freshman from Scottsdale, Ariz., earned runner-up honors at the PCH Invite on Tuesday. She shot just 2 strokes behind the medalist against 44 total golfers, leading the Owls to a second-place overall team finish.
Men’s Cross Country – Runner
No. 14 Corban University’s Robert Swoboda was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Cross Country Runner of the week for the fourth time this season.
Swoboda, a graduate student from Ukiah, Calif., earned individual champion honors this past weekend at the CCC Cross Country Championships, presented by U.S. Bank. He finished the 8K with a time of 24:25.3. Against 89 total runners, the Warriors took fourth place as a team.
Women’s Cross Country – Runner
No. 1 College of Idaho’s Ellyse Tingelstad was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the third time this season.
Tingelstad, a senior from Joseph Ore., earned her third straight individual champion honors this past weekend at the CCC Cross Country Championships, presented by U.S. Bank. She finished the 6K with a time of 20:51.5, setting a new PR. Against 70 total runners, the Yotes took its fifth consecutive CCC title.
Men’s Basketball – Player
Oregon Tech’s Jamison Guerra was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Guerra, a junior guard from Sherwood, Ore., was Instrumental in OIT's key (85-83) win over a (RV) Bethel Indiana. He scored 23 points, including six free throws in the final minutes, while adding a career-high tying 8 assists.
Women’s Basketball – Player
Lewis-Clark State College’s Sitara Byrd was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Byrd, a sophomore guard/forward from Spokane, Wash., had a standout night in the first game of the season to help No. 11 LC State defeat defending NWC Champion Whitman College. She notched the second double-double of her career and 11 rebounds and a career-high 18 points.
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Carroll College’s Avery Lambourne was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Lambourne, a freshman defender from Billings, Mont., had an outstanding final game of the regular season, scoring the first, and game-winning, goal of the game in Carroll's 7-0 win over University of Providence.
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Carroll College’s Delaney Moczan was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Moczan, a freshman forward from Las Vegas, Nev., closed out an impressive freshman campaign with a two-goal performance in a 7-0 win over University of Providence, while also assisting on one other.
Volleyball – Attacker
No. 16 Southern Oregon University’s Hannah Stadstad was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Attacker of the Week for the second time this season.
Stadstad, a junior right-side hitter from Albany, Ore., hit .500 with 16 kills in SOU's upset of No. 6-ranked Corban, then went for a match-high 19 kills in a 4-set win at Bushnell. She finished conference play with a .382 attacking average, the highest for any CCC player since 2019.
Volleyball – Defender
No. 16 Southern Oregon University’s Tessa Zimmerman was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Defender of the Week.
Zimmerman, a freshman middle blocker from Albany, Ore., averaged 2 blocks per set on the weekend, helping the Raiders hold No. 6 Corban University to a .235 average and Bushnell to a .151 clip.
Volleyball – Setter
College of Idaho’s Analise Hitchcock was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week for the second time this season.
Hitchcock, a senior setter from Boise, Idaho, averaged 8.38 assists per set in the wins over Walla Walla and Lewis-Clark State College. She averaged 8.67 assists per set in the straight set win over Walla. She followed that up with 8.20 assists per set and seven digs in the five-set win over LC State.
Men’s Wrestling – Wrestler
Corban University's Matthew Bartlett was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Wrestler of the Week.
Bartlett, a senior from Brakpan, South Africa, kicked off his senior season with an unscathed 5-0 record, recording multiple pins on the weekend in La Grande and taking first overall for the 174-weight class at the Mountaineer Open.
Women’s Wrestling – Wrestler
Southern Oregon University's Caitlyn Davis was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Wrestler of the Week.
Davis, a sophomore from Hilton Head Island, S.C., ranked No. 3 at 155, debuted for the Raiders with a Menlo Open title and got it by defeating three top-12 individuals, including No. 1 Latifah McBryde of Life (Ga.), whom she beat by 3-1 decision in the final.
