CCC Women's Basketball Scoreboard 12.1.23

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The first Friday games of the 2023-34 CCC women’s basketball season took place tonight.

No. 8 Lewis-Clark State College def. The Evergreen State College, 74-45
Lewis-Clark State defeated Evergreen State with a final score of 74-45 for its second straight CCC win. LC State held Evergreen to a 31.6 field goal percentage and did not let up the lead the whole game. LCSC also recorded a game high 50 rebounds, 14 steals, and made 30 points in the paint. Ellie Sander made 20 points and Maddie Holm grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Warriors. The Geoducks had a 62.8 free throw percentage and were paced by Jalyn Sackrider eight points and seven rebounds.

Oregon Tech def. No. 18 Eastern Oregon University, 68-67
Oregon Tech upset Eastern Oregon 68-67 to tip off the conference season. OIT outscored EOU in every period besides the third and lived in the paint, where 46 of its points came from. It was a back-and-forth battle with nine lead changes and the score was tied six times. Oregon Tech recorded a 42.9 field goal percentage and Eastern Oregon shot many free throws, making 88.9 percent. The Owls were led by Gabbie Gascon 16 points while Olivia Sprague drained a 10-foot jumper in the lane with three seconds remaining to seal the victory. Brie Holecek paced the Mounties with a game high 23 points in their first loss of the season.

No. 21 Southern Oregon University def. College of Idaho, 72-53
Southern Oregon recorded a 72-53 victory over College of Idaho to open its conference season. Southern Oregon had 30 points in the paint and 10 from fast breaks in the win. SOU also recorded 54 rebounds and 10 steals but neither team reached above a 40 field goal percentage. Kami Walk carried the Raiders with an impressive 28 points and nine rebounds while adding two blocks. Mia Austin paced the Yotes with 20 points.

Walla Walla University def. Northwest University, 64-55
Walla Walla bested Northwest by a final score of 64-55 for its first CCC win. Even with a lower field goal percentage and less rebounds, Walla Walla was able to utilize on Northwest’s slow start and secure the victory. WWU made 21 of its 31 free throws to help in the win and were led by Chariah Daniels 19 points, nine rebounds, and three steals. Kyrin Baklund led the Eagles with 16 points.

Warner Pacific University def. Bushnell University, 53-49
Warner Pacific edged out Bushnell in a 53-49 victory for its second CCC win on the season. Neither team reached above a 33 field goal percentage. WPU recorded 50 rebounds and managed 29 points off the bench. The Knights were led by Larsa Guzman’s 11 points. The Beacons were paced by Aspen Slifka’s 17 points and Libby Mathis 12 rebounds, both game highs.

Corban University def. Multnomah, 68-65
Corban defeated Multnomah by a final score of 68-65 in its first CCC game of the season. There were two lead changes, and the game was tied once in this tight battle as Multnomah started off hot with 27 points in the first period. Corban had 18 bench points and 17 from turnovers while adding 49 rebounds. Both teams had a 34 field goal percentage. Corban was led by Maddie Godwin 24 point night. Savannah Huerta added 24 points to pace the Lions who only missed two free throw points.
