RESULTS
SPOKANE, Wash. – Six school records fell and eight national standards were hit on Saturday when the Lewis-Clark State Track and Field teams wrapped up the Whitworth Invite in Spokane. The Warriors excelled across the board with top marks in multiple disciplines.
THE MEN
Nik Bertling upped his school record in the indoor pole vault when he cleared a height of 4.67m. The mark is a provisional standard for nationals and earned the senior a first-place finish at the meet. Zayne Maughan placed fifth at 4.37m.
Deary native London Kirk bettered his LC-best mark in the 200m with a B standard time of 21.81 to finish fifth. Jordan Castillo ran the second-fastest time in program history (22.61) to finish 16
th.
Carter Gordon ran the second-fastest 800m time in program history at 1:54.31. The time matches the automatic-qualifying mark for nationals and earned Gordon a second-place finish at the meet. Conner May was a personal-best time of 1:58.26 to take 17
th, and Cooper Carlson was 22
nd (1:59.40).
Senior Brycen Brown hit the B standard in the 3,000m with a time of 8:33.97. His personal-best earned him an eighth-place finish and Brycen Kempton was 22
nd (8:56.04). Kempton led a group of Warriors in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:31.23 to finish 21
st. Connor Alexander was 29
th (4:35.98).
The LC State men's 4x400m relay team of Trenton Johnson, Gordon, Justin Krabbenhoft and Kirk set the school record with a time of 3:22.60. The time earned the group a fourth-place finish, while the quartet of Carlson, Alexander, Bertling and May clocked a time of 3:35.11 to take 12
th.
Krabbenhoft was also in action in the high jump and hit a personal-best mark of 1.92m, the third-highest in the LC State record books. He finished sixth at the meet, and Braden Wuthrich was 10
th at 1.82m.
Krabbenhoft went on to compete in the 60m dash where he matched his PR of 7.21 to finish 21
st. Castillo ran a time of 7.26 to take 30
th.
Johnson placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.58m. Sam Weller was 22
nd in the weight throw (13.22m), and Ike Hopper was 14
th in the 400m (50.86).
Caleb Moore led the LC State men in the heptathlon with a total of 4,194 points. Ian Gardom scored a career-high 3,872.
THE WOMEN
Madigan Kelly continued to demolish the LC record in the 60m hurdles, this time clocking in at 8.68. She won both the prelims and the final at the Whitworth Invite. Ashley Britt ran a personal-best time of 9.28 to place 12
th.
Emily Collins bettered her school record in the 400m with a B standard time of 57.82. Ashley Britt also PRed in the event with a time of 59.80, which ranks fifth in the LC record books.
Another LC State record fell in the 200m when Anika Grogan broke her own top mark with a time of 25.22. She finished fifth at the meet with the B standard. Kelly PRed with a time of 25.95, third-fastest at LC State, to place 14
th. Grogan also ran a personal-best in the 60m dash (7.96) to finish 11
th.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Grogan, Sara Hathaway, Jennah Carpenter and Collins earned a provisional standard with a time of 3:57.51. The team placed second overall, and the quartet of Grace Tiegs, Brooklyn Shell, Abigail Peightal and Correa placed 10
th (4:15.47).
In distance events, Grace Dixon ran the fourth-fastest 3,000m in program history with a time of 10:49.55. The freshman finished 12th at the meet and Peightal was 25
th (11:09.32).
Grace Osborne PRed in the shot put with a mark of 10.20m to finish 21
st. Kea Stieglitz was 25
th at 9.76m.
Geraldin Correa placed fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:17.59. Shell ran a personal-best time of 5:18.66 in the mile to finish 11
th, and Peightal was 27
th (5:29.50).
Emma Harless finished 21
st in the high jump (1.42m).
