Rize Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following twelve CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Feb. 6–12 2023.
 
Men’s Basketball – Player
Oregon Tech’s Jamison Guerra was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
 
Guerra, a sophomore guard from Sherwood, Ore., had a dominant weekend in helping OIT clinch a Conference Tournament berth. He averaged 16 points and seven assists per game against Walla Walla University and Lewis-Clark State College. He also converted 69% of his field goal attempts, made 7-of-9 free throws, and dished out 14 assists. Guerra is on a roll while recording 9-straight double-digit scoring games.
 
Women’s Basketball – Player
No. 10 Lewis-Clark State College’s Callie Stevens was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season.
 
Stevens, a junior guard from Puyallup, Wash., helped the Warriors to a weekend sweep on the road at (RV) Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech. The junior averaged 18 points per game with 19 against SOU and 17 at OIT while shooting .481 from the field. Stevens dished a career-high nine assists against the Owls and had three steals from the Raiders. She totaled 14 assists and four steals over the weekend.
 
Men’s Wrestling – Wrestler
No. 20 Montana State University-Northern’s Carl Hansen was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Wrestler of the Week.
 
Hansen, a 197-lb redshirt junior wrestler from Elko Nev., is ranked No. 15 in the NAIA and has helped his team to an overall record of 8-3. He led the Lights to a 23-17 upset on Thursday in their last duel of the season against No. 9 University of Providence. Hansen defeated No. 14-ranked Liam Swanson with a 2:30 Fall.
 
Women’s Wrestling – Wrestler
No. 3 Southern Oregon University’s Jordynn Robson was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Wrestler of the Week.
 
Robson, a 130-lb senior wrestler from San Jose, Calif., has helped her team to an undefeated record. On Sunday, in their last duel of the season against No. 9 University of Providence, Robson led the Raiders to a 26-18 victory. She upset No. 19-ranked Gabriella Parini with a win by Pin.
 
Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Multnomah University’s Donte Sol was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Sol, a sophomore sprinter from Tampa Fla., set records this week at the Husky Classic. He ran a 6.65 prelim time and then finished first with a 6.61 time in the 60m Dash. Sol is currently No. 1 in the NAIA while setting a new school and National Record.
 
Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Nik Bertling was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Bertling, a senior pole vaulter from Ferry, Idaho, broke his own school record in the indoor pole vault when he cleared a height of 4.67m at the Whitworth Invite. He won the event at the meet and hit the “B” standard for nationals.
 
Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
College of Idaho’s Sage Martin was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
 
Martin, a junior runner from Meridian, Idaho, was victorious in the 3,000m run at the Whitworth with a time of 9:59.96 to secure an NAIA "A" qualifying mark. It is the 12th fastest time in the NAIA, this season. She followed that up as the anchor leg on the winning distance medley relay, who also finished first and posted an NAIA "A qualifying time of 12:09.43, the sixth fastest in the NAIA, this season.
 
Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Jennah Carpenter was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Carpenter, a sophomore jumper from Lewiston, Idaho, had a busy weekend at the Whitworth Invite with multiple national-qualifying standards. She recorded a record-breaking leap in the high jump (1.70m), ranking second in the NAIA. Carpenter also competed in the first pentathlon of her career and finished with a 3,340 total, placing second at the meet and ranked eighth in the NAIA. She completed her weekend with a leg of the 4x400m relay team that hit the “B” standard with a time of 3:57.51, which ranks 13th in the NAIA this season.
 
Baseball – Player
No. 2 Lewis-Clark State College’s Pu'ukani De Sa was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Player of the Week.
 
Pu'ukani De Sa, a junior infielder from Hilo, Hawaii, was unstoppable at the plate. He went 7-for-9 in a non-traditional doubleheader in Florida. He hit .778 with two doubles and a home run for a 1.333 slugging percentage. De Sa knocked in four runs and scored four without striking out and recorded a perfect fielding percentage.
 
Baseball – Pitcher
Oregon Tech’s Brendan Talonen was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
 
Talonen, a senior pitcher from Reno, Nev., allowed just one earned run in five innings, picking up the win in OIT's upset of No. 13-ranked Westmont. He struck out a career-high eight batters while only allowing three hits in five innings.
 
Softball – Player
Northwest University’s Sydney Maurer was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Player of the Week.
 
Maurer, a senior infielder from Aumsville, Ore., led her team to a 4-1 weekend in Texas, beating No. 16 Columbia and two teams ranked in the Sooner Athletic Conference's top four. She hit .526 and slugged 1.105 with three home runs and 11 RBIs. She achieved 21 total bases and got the walk-off RBI in the Eagle's final game.
 
Softball – Pitcher
College of Idaho’s Katelyn Wilfert was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Pitcher of the Week.
 
Wilfert, a senior pitcher from Meridian, Idaho, picked up two complete game wins this weekend. Against Menlo College, she allowed five hits and struck out six in the win. She followed that up with a one-hit shutout of No. 21 Jessup University while striking out four and not allowing a walk to keep a perfect era.
