CCC Baseball Starts Back Up

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2023 Cascade Collegiate Conference baseball season officially swings into action today after a long pre-season and schedule shifts due to inclement weather.

Lewis-Clark State College was unanimously chosen to defend the CCC title for the third-straight year in the Conference preseason poll. In the first ranking of the 2023 season released by the NAIA last week, the Warriors were the sole CCC team to appear on the list, dropping one spot from the NAIA preseason poll, to sit at No. 3.

College of Idaho vs. University of British Columbia
For the season opener of the 2023 CCC baseball season, College of Idaho will host University of British Columbia in Caldwell, Idaho, at 4 p.m. MST. The rest of the series will be played the following days. The Coyotes have seven losses, and the T-birds have 10 while both teams are sitting with 14 wins. Last year, UBC defeated C of I twice on its way to the CCC championship game.

The next games will be played Saturday, March 18:

No. 3 Lewis-Clark State College vs. Corban University
The reigning CCC champions and Corban University will match up in Lewiston, Idaho, at 12 p.m. PST to start its series. The LC State Warriors have a 15-3 preseason record while the other Warriors of Corban are sitting with a tough 5-15 overall record. LC State knocked Corban out of the CCC tournament, but the teams split their regular season series last year.

Eastern Oregon University vs. Oregon Tech
Eastern Oregon University and Oregon Tech will match up La Grande, Ore., at 12 p.m. PST to start its conference seasons. The Mountaineers have only won one of their 16-game preseason schedule. The Owls are currently 13-9. Last year, OIT took four victories over EOU.

Bushnell University will play its first conference game on March 24, against Eastern Oregon in Springfield, Oregon. The Beacons currently hold an 11-7 preseason record. This weekend, they will play Lewis & Clark for three non-conference games.
