Head coach Todd Bos commented, “It is always interesting to see how the team competes at the end of spring break as athletes are out of their normal routine.”
A break from the normal routine didn’t faze veterans Hero Peters and Forrest Cooley or rookie Zander Moha.
Bos added, “On the women's side, our day was highlighted by Hero’s PR and conference qualifying time (26.49-seconds) in the 200-meter. For the men, Zander and Forrest turned in historic 5000-meter times. Zander's time of 15:24.84 is No.4 all time and Forrest was not far behind in the No.7 all time mark of 15:31.57.”
Of note, Moha was the first NAIA runner to finish. Everyone who crossed before him competes at the NCAA Division I level.
“We are looking forward to three big meets over the next month. With better weather and focused work, we should see steady improvement in this young group,” Bos added.
Landing in 29th in in the final results list for the 100-meter, Caleb Schmoll raced to the tune of a 11.8-second performance in the event setting a personal record. Schmoll also placed 29th in the 200-meter and set a PR clocking a time of 23.74-seconds.
Likewise, Evan Olson registered a personal record performance in the 200-meter crossing the finish line at 24.15-seconds.
For the women, Samantha Dara made her debut in the spring campaign competing in the 5000-meter run. Her time of 19:00.22 was good enough for ninth overall.
In addition, Juliana Brown produced season best performances in the 200-meter (27.95 seconds) and 400-meter (1:04.38) taking sixth in the later. Meanwhile, Kristi Hirte placed ninth in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 1:14.55.
Leah Twede (115’01”) and Keelyn O’Reilly (108’06”) represented well in the women’s javelin taking fourth and seventh, respectively.
“We are always thankful to the Lord for the opportunity to compete for His glory,” said Bos.
Corban will compete at Linfield next Saturday, April 8.
