Women's 4x400m School Record Highlights Beacon Weekend in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.  – The women’s 4x400 meter school record was broke and two new CCC qualifications were met as the Beacons competed at the Mike Fanelli Classic, hosted by San Francisco State.

Head Coach Tom Boldon said, “It has been four years since we have been able to come to this meet, and it was a really great meet for us. It was especially fun to run a few relay races that we don’t normally see in meets.”

On Friday, Adrienne Mai, Olivia Bailon, Madeline Desemone, and Janea Robertson took fourth place in the 4x400m race and came across the finish line in 4:04.45 seconds to set a new Bushnell standard. The previous record of 4:05.50 was set in 2016.

Friday also featured a new Cascade Conference qualification for Senior Rebecca Kuskie who finished 89th among the 163 competitors in the 1500m race. She hit another lifetime PR of 4:52.14 and cleared the CCC qualification mark by 0.59 seconds, punching her second ticket to the event (5000m).

Saturday saw freshman Janea Robertson officially add her name to the conference slate in the 400m. She finished second in her heat and broke 60 seconds for the first time, hitting 59.91 to beat the conference qualifying match by more than one second.

Other Women’s Track & Field Highlights:

  • The 1500m featured a five-second collegiate personal best for junior Kaitlin Cook (5:20.72) while Olivia Bailon (5:05.10) came within a fourth of a second from her own lifetime best.
  • A rare women’s distance medley relay was included, which saw a Bushnell team of Cook, Aneykah McCall, Bailon, and Kuskie post the second-best time in school history.
Freshman Alec Carne added his name to the CCC roster for the first time for the men's team, leading the Beacons at the Mike Fanelli Classic.

Carne won his heat of the 5000m race with a personal best 15:09.67. He was 72nd in the 188-man race and missed a Bushnell top-ten all-time finish by just three seconds.

Other Men’s Track & Field Highlights:
  • On his 21st birthday, Hunter Reininger ran three times. He won his heat and posted Bushnell’s best 400m time of the season, coming across in 52.26 seconds, less than two seconds shy of the conference qualifier. He also had the anchor legs in both the 4x100m relay and the Sprint Medley Relay.
  • The 4x100m team of Jaron Carter, Isaiah Davis, Ashton Williams, and Reininger ran a 43.18 to win their heat.
  • Carter posted a season-best 100m time of 11.02 while Isaiah Davis missed his own PR by just one one-hundredth of a second with the fourth-fastest time in school history (10.81).
  • The opening height on the men’s high jump (1.69m) was higher than his career best, but Ty Kishen cleared it on his first attempt.
  • The Beacons ran a Spring Medley Relay for the first time ever, featuring two 200 meter legs followed by a 400m and an 800m. The Bushnell team came across the finish line in 3:49.38.
Bushnell will take a week off before returning to action on Portland on April 14-15 at the Lewis & Clark Invitational.
