Rize Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following eight CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from April 17 - 23 2023.
 
Baseball – Player
Oregon Tech’s Julien Jones was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
 
Jones, a junior outfielder from Washougal, Wash., had a fantastic series against (RV) University of British Columbia. He went 11-for-19 (.579) with six extra-base hits. He knocked in seven runs and scored nine while touching 22 total bases. Defensively, he was errorless with 12 total catches.
 
Baseball – Pitcher
College of Idaho’s Nick Eliason was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week.
 
Eliason, a sophomore left-handed pitcher from Billings, Mont., struck out 11 batters in seven innings while only allowing five hits to lead the Coyotes to an 11-1 win over Bushnell University on Saturday.
 
Softball – Player
No. 4 Southern Oregon University’s Riley Donovan was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Player of the Week for the third time this season.
 
Donovan, a senior Catcher from Half Moon Bay, Calif., led the Raiders all around to a series sweep of Warner Pacific University. She went 8-for-14 (.571) with 12 RBIs and seven runs while touching 20 total bases. She had the first 3-homer game in SOU history and now currently leads the NAIA in home runs (16) and RBIs (63).
 
Softball – Pitcher
No. 24 Eastern Oregon University's Kaylie Hoskins was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Pitcher of the Week for the fifth time this season.
 
Hoskins, a sophomore pitcher from Lake Stevens, Wash., had another outstanding weekend throwing 13 innings of shutout ball racking up 25 strikeouts and only allowing five hits. With back-to-back complete-game shutouts against Corban University, she became the single-season leader in shutouts in program history.
 
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Southern Oregon University Alejandra Lopez was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Lopez, a junior from Mt. Angel, Ore., won the 5K with a PR and CCC Championships-qualifying time of 17:56.96 at the Raider Invitational on Friday.

Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
University of British Columbia Rebecca Dutchak was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Dutchak, a sophomore from Victoria, B.C., won the first UBC program history conference title in the heptathlon on Friday at the Cascade Conference Multi Events Championships, presented by U.S. Bank. She completed her championship with the second-highest total ever recorded at the CCC Multi-Event meet. Her score currently stands as the second-highest in all NAIA this season. She placed first in the 100-meter hurdles, shot put, and long jump while finishing as the runner-up in the javelin and the 200 meters.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Southern Oregon University Frankie Maciel was named the Rize Laboratory Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
Maciel, a junior from Salinas, Calif., won an 18-person 5K by closing a 53-second gap to qualify for the CCC Championships with a final time of 14:57.04 at the Raider Invitational on Friday.

Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Christian Bothwell was named the Rize Laboratory Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Bothwell, a senior from Hailey, Idaho, became the first Warrior in program history to win the conference title in the decathlon on Friday at the Cascade Conference Multi Events Championships, presented by U.S. Bank. He won the title with 6,271 points and was consistent all weekend with five second-place marks. He hit personal-best marks in the long jump (6.44m) and 400m (52.03).
