Under Armour Team of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The College of Idaho baseball team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for April 17 – 23 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.

This weekend, the Coyotes started their final home games of the season, sweeping a doubleheader from Bushnell University with a score of 11-1 in seven innings. They scored nine of those runs with two outs. Tristan Garland and Alex McFarland each had three hits to lead a 16-hit attack. On the mound, Nick Eliason went the distance and struck out 10 Beacons for his third game with double-digit strikeouts.

The Coyotes were just as hot in Saturday's nightcap with four runs on back-to-back home runs from Skyler Sadora and McFarland. With a 5-1 lead, Kirby Robertson held the Beacons at bay on his way to a career-high nine strikeouts to secure the 5-2 win on the mound.

Game three on Sunday presented more of a challenge for C of I but they still managed 15 hits. Tristen Garland and Dillon Danner recorded three each. The Coyotes started strong with an early 9-0 lead, but the Beacons bats became too powerful, and a three-run ninth inning sealed their only series loss.

Game two of the day saw College of Idaho be the comeback heroes as they overcame a 7-1 deficit to help sweeten its senior day. Six Yotes had multiple hits including three hits from Jake Denison. On the mound, Willy Shirts got the win and Nate Vidlak got the final 10-8 save.

This series win bumped College of Idaho (27-16, 11-10 CCC) up to third in the conference standings, tied with No. 16 Lewis-Clark State College. Next up, the Coyotes will travel to Eastern Oregon to wrap up the regular season against the Mountaineers with a possible CCC Tournament berth on the line.
