SPOKANE, Wash. – Abbey Shirts and Sage Martin each set Boppell Stadium Track Records in the 800m dash (2:10.86) and 3,000m steeplechase (10:34.90), respectively. to lead the College of Idaho women’s track and field team at the Whitworth Peace Meet on Friday.
The time by Shirts is the fastest in the NAIA to date and nearly a five-second PR for the Weiser, Idaho native. The time by Martin is also the fastest in the NAIA to date and just four seconds off her PR.
Just behind Martin in the steeplechase with a third-place finish was Larissa Mauer in a time of 11:15.27. The performances by Martin and Mauer are both NAIA “A” qualifying standards.
The third individual event winner for the Yotes was Ellyse Tingelstad in the 5000m run with a time of 17:22.70. Also, the Yotes’ Molly Connor was second (38:06.82) and Charlie Duff was fifth (39:11.92) in the 10,000m run.
In the field events, Ally Sofaly was third (16-9 3/4 / 5.12m) and Addison Trent was eighth (15-10 ¼ /4.83m) in the long jump. Sage Wood took sixth in the pole vault with a clearance of 10-4 ¼ (3.16m) and Star Herron was ninth in the shot put with a toss of 40-4 ¾ (12.31m).
Also, on the track, Kahea Figueira was sixth in the 1500m (4:45.34), Chloe Barylski was eighth in the 400m dash (1:00.42) and Sofaly took ninth in the 100m hurdles (16.04).
