SILVIS, IL – Halfway through the 2023 NAIA Women's Golf Championships, the UBC Thunderbirds are knocking on the door of first place in the overall standings. Wednesday afternoon at TPC Deere Run, the 'Birds combined to shoot a +28 (312) and sit one shot off the overall lead with a two-round score of +37. The defending champs will head into action tomorrow looking to leapfrog Keiser University who holds the one-shot edge.

TPC Deere Run is notorious for its challenging conditions and that point was proved in a big way on Wednesday. After firing a combined score of +9 on Tuesday, the top four UBC golfers battled for their +28 score. After notching 12 birdies during Day 1, the blue and gold combined for five during Day 2.
The top individual performers on Wednesday for UBC were Una Chou (+5) and Sonja Tang (+5). The scorecards for both athletes read one birdie, four bogeys and one double. Individually Chou sits tied for fourth with a two-round total of +7 (149), four shots back of the tournament leaders Sydney Hermann (Dalton State) and Hannah Ulibarri (The Masters University) who sit +3 (146).
Sonja Tang, the 2023 CCC Player of the Year is next for UBC at +9 and is tied for 11
th place in the overall standings.
Grace Bell sits tied for 27
th place with a two-round score of +12.
After finishing the opening round tied for first at even par, Jessica Ng struggled on Wednesday with a +15 and sits tied for 44
th.
Elizabeth Labbe rounded out of the scores for UBC with a +9 (80) on Wednesday and sits +16 over the span of two days.
