MARION, Ind. - [RESULTS | DAY 2 HEAT SHEETS] Day one of the 2023 NAIA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship saw five individual champions crowned.

TEAM RESULTS] UBC led the championship in first place with a team score of 16. Oregon Tech follows T-12 place with a team score of 10. College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon were next T-14th with team scores of eight. Multnomah is T-39th with a team score of two.

- The heptathlon opened with 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m on Wednesday.
- Kaitlyn McColly of Dickinson State (N.D.) leads the field after day one with a first-place finish in the 100m hurdles, 6th in the high jump, 7th in the 200m and 13th in the shot put.
- Rebecca Dutchak of British Columbia ended the day just 28 points behind McColly with a 2nd place finish in the 100m hurdles, 3rd in the shot put, 4th in the 200m and 16th in the high jump.
- Sonya Urbanowicz of British Columbia won her first pole vault title with a mark of 3.95m and beat out the 2021 and 2022 champion Josie Puelz of Concordia (Neb.) by just 0.05m.
- Jennifer Batu of Life (Ga.) won her first hammer title with a mark of 58.66m. Batu surpassed the 2022 winner Kiara Anderson of Hastings (Neb.), who posted a mark of 56.35m.
- Machaeda Linton of William Carey (Miss.) won her first long jump title with a mark of 5.90m and +2.7 wind on her first attempt.
- Erin Oleksak of Marian (Ind.) finished second in her first appearance in the long jump with a mark of 5.90 and +2.6 wind on her second attempt. Oleksak has competed in various events at the championship over the last two years.
- Alex Conley of Oregon Tech won her first javelin title with a mark of 47.27m after finishing second in 2022, 2021 and 2019.
- Julia Rohm of Southeastern (Fla.) was the first to cross the finish line at 35:53.10 in the 10,000m. Rohm improved her time from an 8th-place finish at the championship in 2022.
- Team Scores
- British Columbia leads the team standings after day one with 16 total points. The Thunderbirds have garnered points in these areas: 4th in 10k, 1st in the pole vault and 8th in the long jump.
- The Master's (Calif.) (3rd in the 10k, 3rd in the javelin) and Siena Heights (Mich.) (3rd, 4th and 8th in pole vault) follow with 12 points.
- All student-athletes that place first through eighth place in the finals of an event earn All-American status.
