CORVALLIS, Ore. – After an undefeated opening to the 2023 CCC season, the Carroll Colleges’ Women’s Soccer team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Sept. 18 – 24, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Carroll (6-0-1, 3-0 CCC) began its year ranked 7th in the CCC Preseason Poll but has quickly displayed its dominance. The Fighting Saints are currently undefeated, holding one draw against NCAA Dll, Montana State University Billings, during preseason. After managing two more wins this week, Carroll is tied at the top of the CCC standings with No. 17-ranked College of Idaho.
The first victory this week was over Multnomah University on Thursday with a final score of 1-0. Carroll played nearly exclusively in Multnomah’s field in the second half and ended out shooting the Lions 21-2. Freshman, Delaney Moczan's first goal of the year lifted Carroll to the win.
The next defeat was a 2-0 shutout against Warner Pacific University on Friday. The Saints outshot the Knights 30-4. Emily Funseth was fouled in the 69th minute to allow a penalty shot before burying the ball in the top left corner of the net, allowing Carroll to take the lead. Molly Molvig made another goal in the last two minutes to seal the game.
Up next, the Carroll Colleges’ Women’s Soccer team will travel to western Oregon to face Bushnell and Corban University next weekend.
