Ghandi, No. 2 British Columbia Men’s Golf Run Away with Warrior Fall Invitational Individual, Team Titles

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – An absolute master class performance from the No. 2-ranked University of British Columbia men's golf team allowed them to easily take the team title at the 2023 Warrior Fall Invite, as three of the top five individual finishes went in favor of the nationally ranked T-Birds. A thirty-six stroke difference between UBC and the No. 20-ranked Lewis-Clark State College squad was the largest margin between team finishes and at the top of the scoreboard, nonetheless.

The Thunderbirds (875) took a sizeable lead following day one of the tourney and never looked back, as their twenty-seven stroke lead from day one grew once again thanks largely in part to Manu Ghandi's individual team title. Ghandi was the lone golfer this week to find red numbers on his final scorecard, posting back-to-back rounds of 69 to end the tournament at 211 (-5) overall. Dylan MacDonald (218) and Mackenzie Bickell (222) each completed top five finishes to backup Ghandi and power the T-Birds to five top twenty placements in total.

The No. 20-ranked Warriors of Lewiston (911) struggled to keep pace with British Columbia but always had an answer to the remainder of the field, as Alex Navarro (227) and Juan Pablo Quisoboni (228) finished eighth and ninth overall, respectively. Bryden Brown and Owen Pearson each finished with 229 final scores to tie for twelfth, alongside a top twenty finish for Oscar Behle (232).

The next three team finishes were separated by just seven strokes, with Southern Oregon University (922) leading the trio in third place, followed by The College of Idaho (925) and Oregon Tech (929). The Raiders secured two top ten finishes by Mason Labow and Ricky Reisner who each scored 228 overall, Yotes' Jack Phipps cruised to a 220 and third place finish, while Kade Bracken (224) and Tyce Helmick (229) paced the Owls in the top twelve placers.

Corban University (940), the tournament hosts, had the largest jump of any team finish from the end of day one, climbing up the leaderboards from eighth to sixth thanks to their best team round of the tournament (314). Senior Jackson Bragg rebounded to finish at 230 in a three-way tie for fifteenth, followed by junior Max McDonough's 232 and twentieth place finish.

Multnomah University (944), Bushnell University (946), and Walla Walla University (962) closed out the final team scores from the 2023 Warrior Fall Invite, with the Lions' Isaiah Lamont and Beacons' Jackson Muramoto finishing in fifth and sixth overall, respectively. The Wolves found a top fifteen finish from Eddie Tache who shot a 230 to conclude the top performers for each program.

The next Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament on the schedule won't take place until next calendar year, when Lewis-Clark State hosts the LC State Spring Invite at the Lewiston Golf and Country Club on April 15th and 16th.
