SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A team score equating to par for the course in round two of the 2023 Warrior Fall Invitational allowed the No. 2-ranked University of British Columbia Thunderbirds to jump out to a large lead as they concluded the first two rounds with a combined 582 team score, only six strokes above zero and leading the second place program by twenty-seven strokes.

The second ranked Thunderbirds hold four of the top five positions heading into the final round tomorrow morning, led by Manu Gandhi who posted a 73 (+1) in round one followed by the tourney low mark of 69 (-3) in round two this afternoon. Gandhi and teammate Dylan MacDonald were the only two golfers in the negative through two rounds played, who secured a 143 with back-to-back scores of 72 (E) and 71 (-1). Mackenzie Bickell and John Paul Kahlert weren't far behind for UBC, earning 148 (+4) and 149 (+5) combined round scores, respectively.
No. 20-ranked Lewis-Clark State College (609) kicked off the rest of the conference standings through two rounds with consistent play from their top four, as Alex Navarro's 149 (+5) was good enough for a three-way tie in sixth overall heading into the final day, followed by a 154 (+10) by both Juan Pablo Quisoboni and Owen Pearson, with Bryden Brown a single stroke behind at 155 and in eighteenth place.
The second-year Southern Oregon University program (616) hasn't wasted any time developing into a conference threat, as their top two golfers, Mason Labow and Matt Forsyth, finished in a tie for ninth overall at 151 (+7). Ricky Reisner's 155 (+11) and Oliver Ausland's 159 (+15) rounded out the top four finishers for SOU.
Only nine strokes separate the next three teams on the men's side of the tournament, with The College of Idaho (621), Oregon Tech (624), and Multnomah University (630) all posting improved rounds this afternoon and into the early evening to sit in fourth, fifth, and sixth. Jack Phipps of the Yotes is the team leader with a combined 149 (+5) in sixth overall, while OIT saw identical 153 (+9) scores from Tyce Helmick and Kade Bracken to top the Owls' squad. Meanwhile, Isaiah Lamont of the Lions is the only student-athlete sitting at exactly par for the tourney, securing rounds of 70 and 74 throughout the day.
I-5 rivals Bushnell University (631) and tournament hosts Corban University (632) sit just one stroke away from each other entering the last day of action, with both programs shooting 309 second rounds in a giant improvement compared to their opening eighteen holes. Jackson Muramoto leads the field for the Beacons at 147 (+3) in fourth place, with the Warriors' freshman Max McDonough and senior Jackson Bragg earning 154 (+10) day one results and tied for thirteenth overall after a slick day on the course.
The Wolves of Walla Walla University (647) round out the nine Cascade Collegiate Conference teams in action at the Pine Ridge Golf Club through day one, led by Eddie Tache and Andrew Kuljis who currently rank twenth-sixth with 157s (+13).
The men's programs from each conference school will hit the course again tomorrow at 8:30am for the final round of the 2023 Warrior Fall Invitational.
