MOSCOW, Idaho - History was made Saturday afternoon on day two of the Lauren McCluskey Memorial Open and Multis. Eastern Oregon put together several notable performances, but the highlight came in the men's 400-meter dash when junior sprinter
Osman Osman etched his name at the top of the record books with a time of 48.23 seconds breaking an 18-year old record.
Eastern returns to action next Saturday when they travel to Spokane, Washington to compete in the Inland Northwest Invitational hosted by Whitworth University at The Podium.
MEN:
The highlight of the day came in the 400 Meter Dash that witnessed history being made by Junior
Osman Osman, who broke the EOU Indoor track and Field Record with an exceptional time of 48.23 seconds. Osman's performance secured him an "A" Standard and qualified him for the national championships later this spring. Osman's performance surpasses the previous record set in 2006 by Matt Lane, with a time of 48.91 seconds.
In the 60 Meter Dash, Sophomore
Bryson Spears had a standout day, moving to 5th all-time in the event with a personal best time of 7.12 in the prelims.
Wrapping up the heptathlon with a strong performance was Senior
Judson Mansfield. Mansfield secured a second-place finish with a personal best score of 4745. Notably, his second-place finish in the pole vault, where he cleared 13'10", played a crucial role in securing his position. Mansfield's impressive score now ranks him 8th all-time in the heptathlon in EOU track and field history.
WOMEN:
The women's team also had notable achievements on day two of the competition. Junior
Lauryn Mitchell stood out in the 1,000 Meter Run, claiming victory with an impressive time of 3:01.61. Mitchell's performance earned her a "B" Standard and secured her fourth place all-time in the program record book for the event.
In the Triple Jump event, Senior
Adrienne Washington showcased her talent by setting a personal record and tying the 7th best jump in program history with a mark of 33' 10".
