Three-way playoff highlights final day of Gail Moore Intercollegiate

BREMERTON, Wash. – The UBC Thunderbirds increased their lead in the second and final round of the Gail Moore Intercollegiate, earning a team score of 574 (-2) for the tournament. They won by 25 strokes over the runner's up Oregon Tech Owls, who amassed a score of 599 (+23).

Bo Brown shined on the final day, as the fourth-year UBC golfer shot a career-best 69 (-3) in the second round to force a three-way playoff for the individual gold. There, she faced off against her teammate Jessica Ng and Oregon Tech star Quincy Beyrouty, after all three athletes scored a 142 (-2). When the dust settled Brown prevailed with the gold medal, Beyrouty earned silver and Ng bronze.

"Our team spirit, the chemistry of the group is really coming a long way," said Thunderbirds head coach Chris MacDonald. "To host this event at Gold Mountain, which is one of the best courses in Washington state, made it a really fun experience. It's nice to see those under par scores and the players playing to the last putt."

Other standouts individually included Cindy Koira of the Victoria Vikes who finished 4th at 144 (E). UBC's Grace Bell and Kaylee Jones of the College of Idaho Yotes tied for 5th at 146 (+2).

Victoria narrowly beat out the Lewis-Clark State Warriors for third place on the team leaderboard, scoring 620 compared to Lewis-Clark's 622. The Southern Oregon Raiders rounded out the top five with a score of 629.

From there, the North Idaho College Cardinals (643), College of Idaho (652), Bushnell Beacons (664), Walla Walla University Wolves (669), and Corban Warriors (816) rounded out the rest of the field.

This event was the final Cascade Conference action until the new year. The squads next collide at Southern Oregon in April.
