PORTLAND, Ore. – The Corban University Women's Golf team improved their team score by eight strokes today in the final round of the Multnomah Invite but were unable to overcome the day one lead built by Walla Walla University and settled for a runner-up finish behind the Wolves, along with the second-place individual medalist donning the navy and gold attire.
"Our ladies improved by eight strokes and both Yaone and Maddy hit personal records again," Corban head coach Charlie Marshall explained regarding his women's program. "The greens were slippery, and we had some tough pin placements to maneuver. I'm proud of these ladies for their effort and love for each other, including how they represent Corban and Jesus with great passion."
With no live stats or end-of-day round scores provided by the host institution, Coach Marshall provided his program's scores for tonight's recap and final evaluations. The Warrior women's golfers shaved off eight strokes from the opening round to today's final 18 holes, led by graduate student Kristin Senatra who secured a 76 after a round of 75 yesterday to finish as the tournament runner-up.
True freshman Yaone Mokgatle turned in an 83 scorecard today to improve her game by four strokes between rounds, while fellow freshman Madelyn Moore topped all Warriors in day-to-day progression with a sub-90 round for the first time in her young collegiate career to advance from a 91 to 86 overnight. The final Corban scorecards turned in today in PDX were represented by freshmen Elliott Chesla (103) and Avery Hansen (114).
The Navy and Gold next hit the course on October 21st and 22nd when they travel to Bremerton, Washington for the UBC Fall Invite, hosted by the University of British Columbia at the Gold Mountain Golf Club.
