Warriors Take Second at Multnomah Fall Invite as Quillin, McDonough Lead Men’s Golf Team

PORTLAND, Ore. – By compiling a two-day team score of 590 over Monday and Tuesday's competition, the Corban University Men's Golf program took second behind the tourney hosts of the Multnomah Fall Invite, with a true freshman having a stellar final round of play to tie for the team lead in his first collegiate golf outing.

"Our men played very well again today, but hats off to Multnomah for crushing it," stated Warriors' head coach Charlie Marshall. "Riley was the standout for us going one under par for the day and for the tournament, matching Max over the two rounds played. I'm proud of how our men grinded it out these past two days and were rewarded by their strong play and results."

With no live stats or end-of-day round scores provided by the host institution, Coach Marshall provided his program's scores for tonight's recap and final evaluations. Overall, the Navy and Gold finished day two with a 296 team score, two strokes more than their 294 in the opening round to finish six strokes over par for the week.

Freshman Riley Quillin capped off a stellar performance in his first collegiate golf tournament by submitting the only round under par on the day, punching in a 73 on day one and 72 today to finish in a tie for the team lead with senior Max McDonough. A team-best 71 yesterday for McDonough was followed with a 74 today to match Quillin on the leaderboard.

Competing as an individual this week was junior Brayden Sparkman, who completed play with a 76 this afternoon and when considered alongside his 72 from Monday, leaves him as the third-highest finisher for the Navy and Gold. Sophomore David Harvey and junior Andy Austen each turned in 75 scorecards this afternoon to finish in fourth and fifth among Corban golfers, respectively.

To round out the team scoring, sophomore Owen Heath wrapped up play with a round of 78 to precede his 76 from yesterday. The final two Warriors to compete as individuals were sophomore Benjamin Winans (82) and junior Brock Nelson (83).

Corban men's golf will take next week to prepare for the UBC Fall Invite, hosted by the University of British Columbia in Bremerton, Washington at the Gold Mountain Golf Club over October 21st and 22nd, one of two remaining Cascade Collegiate Conference tournaments prior to the conference championships next April.
