Wieber Takes First, 10 Mounties Place at Battle of the Rockies

GREAT FALLS, Mont. — Eastern Oregon Women's Wrestling began the season with a strong third-place finish at the Battle of the Rockies Women's Open, scoring 96.0 points as a team.

The Mountaineers were led by Liv Wieber, who captured the title in the 145-pound weight class, defeating Esther Han of the University of Providence in the final and contributing 18.5 points to the team score. Kadence Beck (124 lbs) and Irma Retano (117 lbs) also delivered standout performances, each earning second-place finishes and adding 18.0 and 16.0 points, respectively.

The University of Providence topped the leaderboard with 162.0 points, followed by Indiana Tech with 152.5 points. Other EOU contributors included Katelyn Leonard (110 lbs) and Kiona Michel (207 lbs), who each took fourth place, while Gloria Diaz (110 lbs) placed fifth.

Nia Avelino (110 lbs), Brooklyn Jones (124 lbs), Sitlaly Macias (131 lbs), and Trinity Tafoya (180 lbs) each secured sixth place in their respective weight classes.

The Mountaineers will be back in action on November 24, competing in the Spokane Open at The Podium.
