Eastern Oregon Women's Wrestling Shines at Mountaineer Open

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University women's wrestling delivered a strong performance at the Mountaineer Open on Saturday, finishing with 13 placewinners and five individual champions across multiple weight classes.

EOU crowned champions in the following weight classes:

  • 103 lbs: Nayeli Flores Roque finished first, securing the title with a fall over Maria Angeline Pillejera (Umpqua CC) in the final round.
  • 110 lbs: Telsarina Walter placed first, winning the championship match by technical fall over Alyson Ortiz (Umpqua CC), 10-0.
  • 124 lbs: Kadence Beck earned first place, ending the final with a fall in 18 seconds over Malia Welch (Southern Oregon).
  • 131 lbs: Anna Rodriguez secured first place with a 6-3 decision over Nevaeh Arthun (Southern Oregon).
  • 145 lbs: Liv Wieber claimed first place with a 5-1 decision over Sariah Zepeda (Southern Oregon).

Additional top finishers included second-place finishes from Irma Retano (117 lbs) and Chloe Overgaag (160 lbs), along with third-place finishes from Nia Avelino (110 lbs) and Sitlaly Macias (138 lbs).

Eastern Oregon women's wrestling will return to action next week Saturday at the North Central Open in Naperville, Illinois.
