"Another big day for the Navy and Gold track and field team," Warriors' head coach Todd Bos exclaimed when asked to detail the day his programs had. "Zander made program history by hitting our very first indoor A-standard for an event, while the rest of the team competed very well. We had our fair share of PRs and also saw areas we can improve on. Our team was blessed to compete in Spokane and Seattle and we thanks God for the opportunities."
In only his third attempt thus far this season, sophomore Zander Moha was able to shave six seconds of his initial personal best today with a 4:13.90 in the men's mile race at the Husky Classic, which qualifies him for the national indoor championships with an "A" standard, the first of such in program history. The finish saw Moha place 74th out of 91 NCAA runners and was the top NAIA placer.
Meanwhile, freshman Braydon Lee, who already qualified for national meet in the men's 800m race with a "B" standard last weekend, shaved just over a tenth of a second off his personal best today with a 1:54.94 in Seattle to continue working towards the team's second "A" standard of the year.
Over 20 Warrior student-athletes took to the track today in Spokane for the final day of the Whitworth Invitational, hosted by NCAA DIII Whitworth University, where 12 new personal records were set in a variety of different race lengths. On the women's side, freshmen Sara Richardson and Kirsten Kuenzi each posted career bests in the 60m, junior Elizabeth Hernandez in the 200m, and senior Samantha Dara in the mile race with a 15th overall finish out of 59 total runners and the new 81st best time in the NAIA thus far this season.
