CORVALLIS, Ore. – After earning the 2024 conference championship crown, No. 1-ranked Menlo College Women’s Wrestling was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Feb. 19 – 25, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Menlo showed out for its home crowd and hosted an outstanding tournament. The Oaks earned 176.5 total team points to land atop of the standings. Menlo placed four Champions and five runner-ups with 10 receiving All-Conference honors.
No. 6 Ajayzee Zaballos (116) won her championship title by 11-4 decision. No. 6 Alana Vivas (123) earned a 11-2 decision and pin before taking the championship bout by medical forfeit. No. 7 Desiree Jones (143) completed two technical falls and a pin to be crowned an individual champion. No. 1 Tavia Heidelberg-Till (191) received two byes before securing her allocation with a pin for her second straight individual title.
Head coach Michael Ayala was named the 2023-2024 CCC Coach of the Year. He helped lead the top ranked team in the NAIA to its third conference title in his first year at the helm of the program.
Menlo will be traveling a full roster with 12 Oaks earning automatic qualifications to the 2024 NAIA Women's Wrestling National Championship, which will be held March 8th and 9th at Harold Newman Arena in Jamestown, North Dakota.
