CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 2024 Cascade Collegiate Conference baseball season officially begins tomorrow.
Six CCC teams will take the field this weekend to get the season started, battling for the regular-season title. The Cascades Conference’s automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament will be awarded to the winner of the CCC Baseball Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank., beginning on May 4.
After finishing as the NAIA Runner-up last year, Lewis-Clark State College was chosen to claim the crown in the
CCC Preseason Poll. The Warriors are ranked No. 7 in the first
NAIA Baseball poll of the 2024 season. The reigning CCC regular and tournament Champions of University of British Columbia also found itself ranked at No. 23.
Lewis-Clark State College vs. Corban University
Corban hosts Lewis-Clark State in the lone Friday games to open the season with a battle of the Warriors. LC State holds a 10-6 record and Corban is currently 5-16. Last year the teams also opened its conference season against each other and the LC Warriors took the series 3-1.
University of British Columbia vs. Oregon Tech
The 2023 co-regular season champions swing off in a much anticipated conference opener on Saturday. British Columbia currently sits at the top of the conference standings with a 15-8 record as they head to face the Owls. OIT holds a 14-10 record and last year fell to the Thunderbirds 7-11 in the CCC tournament championship game. Last week, Sean Heppner of UBC broke the CCC single game strikeout record with 16 and was named the NAIA Pitcher of the Week.
Bushnell University vs. Eastern Oregon University
Eastern Oregon is prepared to start its conference season strong by hosting Bushnell on Saturday. The Mounties currently sit with a 9-13 record while the Beacons enter conference play at 12-9. Bushnell swept Eastern Oregon to start its CCC season last year.
College of Idaho is 9-17 and will begin CCC play on March 23 against Oregon Tech.
