"Had a good round one with Jackson going -1 to lead the team, which very easily could have been -3 as well," Corban head coach Charlie Marshall stated. "He's very much in contention to medal this weekend. It was great to see all five of our guys under 80, as we know we left many strokes out there today and we're already working on the things we need to do to go lower tomorrow."
Corban senior Jackson Bragg was the team leader through the first round of play today, finishing with a round of 70 to sit all alone in third place overall and just one stroke behind the standing leaders. Bragg was incredibly consistent this afternoon with just one bogey and four birdies on the day, hitting par on every other hole.
Following Bragg in the standings was sophomore Shane Jacobus, who finished at +5 on the day with a round of 77 and three birdies. Rounding out the rest of the crew, junior Max McDonough was just a stroke off behind Jacobus at +6, while sophomores Andy Austen and Brayden Sparkman followed in turn at +7 and +8 trough one round of 18 holes played.
The Warrior men scored at +17 on the day, needing just two strokes combined to catch the third place team in UVic's reserve team. The University of Fraser Valley (+6) program is in second place, while UVic's starting five lead the field at -2 overall. The men will regroup tomorrow for the final round, looking to catapult into a top three team finish.
