EUGENE, OR -
Micah Murphy was the lone Northwest University competitor today in the University of Oregon Preview at Hayward Field where the Eagles saw their second national qualifying mark of the outdoor season.
After Murphy's 14:44.11 5k finish today, the senior can not only look forward to the NAIA Outdoor Men's Track and Field Championships, but to seeing his name in the Northwest University record books for the second time this school year alone. Murphy set the most recent 800m record during the 2024 indoor season.
Murphy's 14:44.11 5k finish passes 2021 graduate, Riley Sine, who ran a 14:47.6 in 2019.

Mark Mandi says, "Good race for Micah. A school record in the 5k which is special to do. He fought really hard to rally the last mile and that helped him get under the national B standard."
Murphy will join NU women's track and field's, Halsie Keltner, at the NAIA Outdoor Championships in Marion, IN, May 22-24.
