Jamestown, N.D. – The 2nd Annual NAIA Women’s Wrestling Championship, hosted on the campus of the University of Jamestown inside Harold Newman Arena began Day One of competition on Friday, March 8th. With morning and evening sessions. After two rounds. Menlo (Calif.) and Life (Ga.) have emerged as the teams at the top of the standings.

The 2024 Championship features two days of wrestling, Session I on Friday morning saw the 1st Round (Championship), 1st Round (Consolation), 2nd Round (Championship), and 2nd Round (Consolation) wrestled before the intermission. After day one Menlo College leads all teams with 111 total team points. Southern Oregon University followed with 80 points to land in 4th.

Session I Highlights:
- 101 – Top-seeded Erin Hikiji of Providence (Mont.) opened her national tournament run with a fall in 34 seconds.
- 116 – Irma Retano of Eastern Oregon opened her day with a 10-9 decision victory over Markayla Lottie of Avila (Mo.). Eight-seed Marissa Kurtz of Southern Oregon secured the decision win over Isabelle Asuncion of Providence (Mont.). Six-seed Icart Galumette grabbed a decision over Kaylee Annis of Southern Oregon.
- 123 – Fifth seed Anna Krejsa of Life (Ga.) was victorious over Alicia Frank of Providence (Mont.) with a fall.
- 130 – Fifth-seeded Elizabeth Duvall of Texas Wesleyan defeated Erica Grant of Evergreen (Wash.) by fall in 2:27. Top-seeded Carolina Moreno (SOU) took care of business in her first match of the day, defeating Nonnie Justice of Central Methodist (Mo.) by fall in 2:13. Fourth-seeded Alyssa Randles of Providence (Mont.) also won via tech fall against Bryce White of Oklahoma City.
- 136 – Unseeded Stephanie Chaves of Menlo (Calif.) defeated eighth-seeded Gabriella Perez of Campbellsville (Ky.) by decision to remain in the championship bracket. Fourth-seeded Waipullaani Estrella-Beauchamp of Providence (Mont.) secured the tech fall victory of Carley Anderson of Indiana Tech. Willow Barnes of Missouri Valley defeated Piper Hall of Vanguard (Calif.) by tech fall. Samantha Barragan of Menlo (Calif.) won via fall against Aniseta Acosta of Missouri Valley in 2:31. Stephanie Chavez of Menlo (Calif.) defeated eighth-seeded Gabriella Perez of Campbellsville (Ky.) by decision.
- 143 – Fourth-seeded Desiree Jones of Menlo (Calif.) picked up the decision win over Marissa Jimenez of Oklahoma City. Seventh-seeded Bella Amaro of Southern Oregon secured a victory by fall in 1:26 over Makayla Munoz of Oklahoma City.
- 155 – All top eight seeds advanced to the championship quarter-finals Friday evening, with Caitlyn Davis of Southern Oregon grabbing a pair of wins Friday morning by tech fall then decision. Sadie Antoque posted a decision win in her only bout of the morning session. Josette Partney of Missouri Baptist and Flor Parker-Borreo of Evergreen (Wash.) both grabbed an injury-default victory. Shannon Workinger of Menlo (Calif.) worked her way into the quarterfinals Friday evening after taking care of business in the Round of 32 and Round of 16.
- 191 – Only one unseeded wrestler remains in the championship bracket in the 191 class. Top-seeded Tavia Heidelber-Tillitson of Menlo (Calif.) continues her All-American hopes tonight after posting a win via fall then a second win by tech fall.
Session II Highlights:
- 101 – Top-seeded Erin Hikiji of Providence (Mont.) continued her dominate performance on Friday evening with a quick 10-0 tech fall over Riley Banyas of Campbellsville (Ky.). Kayla Mckinley-Johnson of Menlo (Calif.) advanced to the semifinals after her victory via injury default. Liana Ferreira of Southern Oregon emerged victorious after the upset win over fifth-seeded Alyssa Quezaire.
- 109 – Paige Morales of Providence (Mont.) earned herself a spot in the semifinals tomorrow after taking down Emma Baertlein of Southern Oregon with a 10-4 decision. Emma Baertlein of Southern Oregon will head to Saturday morning after a 5-2 decision.
- 116 – Katherine Heath of Baker (Kan.) reached the semifinal round for the first time ever after emerging victorious against the fifth-seeded Ajayzee Zaballos of Menlo (Calif.). Fifth-seeded Ajayzee Zaballos of Menlo (Calif.) bested her opponent with a 10-0 tech fall. Eighth-seeded Marissa Kurtz of Southern Oregon secured the victory by fall in 1:12 to secure her place Saturday morning.
- 123 – Teammates of Alana Vivas and Haley Narahara of Menlo (Calif.) will meet Saturday morning in the fourth round of consolations. Seeds one through four on the championship side of the 123 bracket advanced into the semifinals tomorrow morning.
- 130 – Carolina Moreno of Southern Oregon secured the 10-0 tech fall, pushing her into the semifinals. Fourth-seeded Alysaa Randles of Providence (Mont.) was victorious via fall earning her a place in the semifinals. Lillian Avalos of Vanguard (Calif.), Devin Patton of William Penn (Iowa), and Louisa Schwab of Menlo (Calif.) all reached the fourth round of consolations Saturday with tech fall victories.
- 136 – Seeds one through four will continue their national title dreams as top-seeded Adaugo Nwachukwu posted a victory by fall. Her opponent tomorrow is fourth-seeded Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp of Providence (Mont.), who advanced thanks to a 9-3 decision. Andrea Schlabach of Grand View (Iowa) advanced via fall over seventh-seeded River Todd of Vanguard (Calif.). Stephanie Chavez of Menlo (Calif.) and River Todd of Vanguard (Calif.) will continue their battles Saturday morning after they both wrestled to decision victories.
- 143 – Madison Diaz of Grand View (Iowa) continues her cinderella story tomorrow in the semifinals, taking down fifth-seeded Alexandra Lopez of Menlo (Calif.) by fall. Emma Walker of Campbellsville (Ky.) and Bella Amaro of Southern Oregon will face off on Saturday after they both claimed decision victories. Alexandra Lopez of Menlo (Calif.) posted a victory by fall to advance into the fourth round of consolations
- 155 – Caitlyn Davis of Southern Oregon continued to work her way through the championship bracket Friday evening after a 3-1 decision over Sadie Antoque of Providence (Mont.). Flor Parker-Borreo of Evergreen (Wash.) is headed into the next round after defeating fifth-seeded Josette Partney of Missouri Baptist. Liv Wieber of Eastern Oregon posted an upset victory over third-seeded Shannon Workinger of Menlo (Calif.) with a 3-2 decision. Josette Partney of Missouri Baptist and Sadie Antoque of Providence (Mont.) both advanced to the fourth round of consolations with victories by decision. Kendra Thompson of Campbellsville (Ky.) grabbed the upset victory via fall, while third-seeded Shannon Workinger of Menlo (Calif.) won by a 6-0 decision.
- 170 – Kalila Shrive of Menlo (Calif.), a fifth seed continued her title hunt after her win by fall. Shenita Lawson of Southern Oregon won her quarterfinal bout by fall, while second-seeded Ashley Lekas of William Penn (Iowa) recorded the 10-0 tech fall to make a semifinal appearance.
- 191 – It’s a battle of the top seeds in the semifinals Saturday morning, as one through four continue their title hunts. Top-seeded Tavia Heidelberg-Tillitson of Menlo (Calif.) picked up the narrow 5-1 decision victory over eight-seeded Olivia Brown of Grand View (Iowa).
