LA GRANDE, Ore. – The first day of the 2024 Cascade Collegiate Conference Track and Field Multi Event Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, took place today at Eastern Oregon University.
In the heptathlon, the reigning conference champion, Rebecca Dutchak, is leading through four of seven disciplines with 3059 points. The University of British Columbia senior is ahead of Eastern Oregon’s Lizzy Grandle by 56 points.
Dutchak entered the week ranked on top of this season’s national performance list. She finished 1st in three events today including the 100m hurdles (14.28), shot put (12.50m), and the 200m where she recorded a time of 25.91 to set a new CCC record.
Grandle is currently sitting in second with 3003 points. She finished 2nd in the shot put (11.63m), 3rd in the 200m (27.01), and 5th in the 100m hurdles (15.13).
Last year’s runner up, Abi Stevens of Southern Oregon University, is currently sitting in 3rd place with 2926 points. She finished 2nd in the 200m (26.51), 4th in the 100m hurdles (15.06), and 5th in the shot put (9.69m).
Both Grandle and Stevens tied for 1st in the high jump, setting a new CCC record with a height of 1.68m.
In the decathlon, TJ Davis is leading through five of 10 disciplines with 3641 points. The Eastern Oregon senior is ahead of Oregon Tech’s Eli Stevens by 298 points.
Davis has crushed day one after finishing 1st in the 100m (11.29) and high jump (1.81m), along with the shot put (13.36m) and 400m (50.14) where he set new CCC records. He also finished 2nd in the long jump (6.56m).
Eli Stevens is currently sitting in second with 3343 points. He finished 1st in the long jump (6.65m), 2nd in the 100m (11.37), 3rd in the 400m (51.93), 4th in the high jump (1.69m), and 5th in the shot put (11.35m).
Israel Miles of Eastern Oregon is currently sitting in 3rd place with 3171 points. He finished 3rd in the 100m (11.43), 4th in the 400m (52.20), and 5th in the long jump (6.28m).
Friday’s remaining heptathlon disciplines – the long jump, javelin and 800 – begin at 10:15 a.m. The decathlon continues at 10 a.m. and will feature the 110 hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500.
