LA GRANDE, Ore. – University of British Columbia's Rebecca Dutchak and Eastern Oregon University’s TJ Davis earned the champion titles at the 2024 Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, on Friday afternoon at Eastern Oregon.
 
For the second consecutive year, Dutchak led through seven disciplines to conclude with 5109 points, a 264 point improvement from last year’s score to set a new CCC heptathlon point record. The British Columbia senior finished ahead of the runner up, Eastern Oregon’s Lizzy Grandle, by 163 points.
 
Dutchak continued strong on day two, finishing 1st and setting a new CCC record in the long jump with a distance of 5.77m. She also finished 4th in the javelin (37.39m) and 5th in the 800m (2:33.23).
 
Grandle landed in 2nd with 4946 points. She set a new CCC record in the javelin with a distance of 42.36m. She also finished 3rd in the long jump with a distance of 5.32m.
 
Abi Stevens of Southern Oregon University finished in 3rd place with 4827 points. She set a new CCC record in the 800m with a time of 2:19.46 for a 1st place finish. She also finished 2nd in the long jump with a distance of 5.42m.
 
In the decathlon, Davis led through 10 disciplines to conclude with 6996 points. The Eastern Oregon senior finished 914 points ahead of teammate Israel Miles.
 
Davis continued to dominate day two, he finished 1st and set new CCC records in the 110m hurdles (14.60), discus (38.66m), and the 1500m (4:43.09). He also finished 2nd in the pole vault (3.90m) and the javelin (48.61m).
 
Teammate Israel Miles landed in 2nd place with 6082 points. He finished 1st in the pole vault (4.20m), 2nd in the 110m hurdles (15.43), and 4th in the javelin (42.35m).
 
Coleton Urquhart of Southern Oregon University finished in 3rd place with 5898 points. On day two he finished 2nd in the 1500m (4:48.82) as well as 3rd in the 100m hurdles (16.69) and the discus (34.85m).
University of British Columbia's Dean Ciarniello set a new CCC record in the javelin with a distance of 49.01m.
 
Points will be added and awards will be given during the remainder of the CCC Track and Field Championships, which will take place on May 10-11 in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
