MONMOUTH, Ore. – In the first appearance for the Corban University Men's and Women's Track & Field programs since the spring break pause, the Warriors took to the track, runways, and throwing slabs today at the John Knight Twilight meet, hosted by NCAA DII Western Oregon University, where the Navy and Gold saw a handful of new Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) qualifying marks alongside some new personal and season bests to kick off the back half of their 2024 spring season.

"Our group has come back from spring break with some illness and nagging injuries, so we didn't have all our athletes compete out of safety for their health," Warriors' head coach Todd Bos stated earlier this evening. "Even so, we had some excellent performances by all our event groups. I am thankful to God for this group of student-athletes, and I believe we are headed towards some great finishes to this school year."
With a majority of the Warriors that have competed over the opening half of the season having already met the conference qualifying marks for their respective events, only three new individuals added marks to book their trip to Klamath Falls in May for the CCC Championships, beginning with the first two long distance runners of the year as they begin to ramp up their training towards a late-season finish. Freshman Jack Gladfelter and sophomore Zander Moha placed seventh and ninth, respectively, in the men's 1,500m race to hit the necessary pace, with Moha clocking a new personal record of 4:00.20.
Meanwhile in the throws, redshirt freshman Brodin Tuning made his first appearance of the 2024 season with a 47.17m hurl in the men's javelin to round out the new CCC marks for Corban track and field today.
In addition to Moha's new personal best, the following male Warriors all submitted either season-long or all-time best marks today: sophomore Grant Anderson in men's 1,500m (4:17.88), sophomore DJ Armstead in men's 100m (10.95), senior Will Cordero in men's discus (38.70), freshman Aden Dardis in men's hammer throw (28.20m), freshman Luke Harkey in men's 1,500m (4:11.12), junior Will Maupin in men's high jump (1.80m) and long jump (5.94m), and freshman David McCormick in men's 110m hurdles (17.28).
On the women's side, junior thrower Gabrielle Tata-Rodrigues secured a new personal best hammer throw of 43.58m to highlight the new season/all-time best marks, which also included: senior Samantha Dara in women's 1,500m (4:53.69), junior Kristi Hirte in women's 400m hurdles (1:12.62), freshmen Shaelee Killorn in women's 800m (2:26.50), freshman Kirsten Kuenzi in women's long jump (4.89m), and freshman Johnna Waddell in women's pole vault (2.50m).
A week from tomorrow, the Warriors will be back in action in Portland at the Larry Byerly L&C invite, hosted by NCAA DIII Lewis & Clark College at Eldon Fix Track.
