SILVIS, Ill. – After holding the lead following the first round, the UBC Thunderbirds (+33) now sit in a tie for second at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship at the conclusion of round two.
The T-Birds are neck in neck with Oklahoma City University (+33) and one stroke behind Keiser University (+32), which charged up from sixth place at the end of Tuesday's round to sit atop the table by the end of Wednesday. Those top three teams are 11 strokes clear of fourth place SCAD – Savannah (+44).
The end of the second round saw the Championship field cut in half ahead of the last two rounds on Thursday and Friday. UBC finished 40 strokes above the cut line.
Individually, two T-Birds find themselves in the top 10 of a field that began at 156 players, but has now been reduced to 81. Elizabeth Labbe (+6) is alone in seventh while Grace Bell (+7) is tied for eighth.
Thursday's draw sees the 'Birds each paired with two players from the schools with whom they are battling for first, and in the most desirable time slots, the final groups of the morning beginning on the first hole. The five UBC golfers will start their rounds at 10 minute intervals, beginning at 8:40 a.m. (PT).
