CCC U.S. Bank Scholar-Athletes of the Year

CORVALLIS, Ore. – College of Idaho’s Drew Wyman and Ellyse Tingelstad have been named the 2023-24 Cascade Collegiate Conference U.S. Bank Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, as announced by the conference office.

The Cascade Conference’s top academic honor comes after the conference’s athletic directors voted on a ballot of nominees.

Wyman, a native of Great Falls, Mont., helped C of I to another outstanding year on the court. He led the Yotes to a regular season champion title while holding a perfect 4.0 GPA. He was a pivotal piece in the team's NAIA postseason run, which ended in the Fab Four. Wyman played in all 36 games where he averaged 11.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, shot 50.2 percent from the field, and was named a CCC Player of the Week. The junior was selected to the CCC All-Conference team and earned third-team All-American honors. Along with his athletic achievements, the Biomedical Science major was just as successful in the classroom, receiving recognition as a CCC Academic All-Conference, CSC Academic All-American, and a NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete.

"Our program, college, and community are thrilled for Drew to receive this award. He has worked tremendously hard on the court and in the classroom. Drew leads by example and is a wonderful display of what it means to be a Student-Athlete,” stated College of Idaho’s head men’s basketball coach, Colby Blaine.

Tingelstad, a native of Joseph Ore., helped C of I to another outstanding year on the tracks. She led the Yotes to a conference and national cross country championship titles while holding a perfect 4.0 GPA. She was a key asset in the teams runs by finishing first at the Conference Championship and claiming second-place at the NAIA Championship. Tingelstad currently holds the eighth fastest 10,000m in the country and earned three individual titles this cross country season. She also won two events (5,000m and 10,000m) at this year’s CCC Track and Field Championship. She was named a CCC Athlete of the Week four times this year and received an NAIA Runner of the Week honor. The senior was selected as the USTFCCA NAIA West Region Women’s Runner of the Year for her high caliber performances. Along with her athletic achievements, the Environmental Science major was just as successful in the classroom, receiving recognition as a CCC Academic All-Conference and a NAIA Daktronics Scholar Athlete.

“Elly has had her fair share of success in running, but her academic accolades are equally impressive. We are incredibly proud of all her accomplishments and her winning this honor is well deserved,” stated College of Idaho’s head cross country and track and field coach, Dominic Bolin.
