Hirte Hits Conference Standard in Final Regular Season Meet for Warrior Track & Field Programs

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – With the postseason now scheduled to begin less than a week from today, the Corban University Track and Field programs participated in their final regular season meet to allow any student-athletes still looking to hit qualifying marks an opportunity to do so at the Linfield Open, hosted by NCAA DIII Linfield University.

"Between graduation and resting for next week's conference meet, our competing team was much smaller this time around," explained Warriors' head coach Todd Bos. "However, Kristi ran a great race to hit the conference qualifying mark, and our other competing athletes all had solid performances as well. Our team is excited for conference next weekend, and we pray we have our best efforts of the year there."

Despite another set of both season and career best marks being met today for the Warriors, junior hurdler Kristi Hirte was the only member of either program to add her name to the postseason qualifiers that will make the journey to southern Oregon next weekend, as she finished third out of the nine-woman 400m hurdle event, second among NAIA participants, with a 1:10.78 to shave off two seconds from her season best mark in the final opportunity of the 2024 regular season.

Hirte was joined by freshman Abigail Scott and sophomore Leah Twede in achieving new personal bests today by Warrior women, with Scott placing 12th in the 800m race by clocking a 2:34.83, while Twede hurled the hammer 39.34m to finish in 11th and fifth among NAIA competitors.

On the men's side, three student-athletes hit new personal records in their respective events, which include: sophomore Noah Andres – 5,000m (16:22.03), freshman Aden Dardis – hammer throw (31.01m), and freshman Jackson Cook – long jump (6.04m).

The Navy and Gold will now make their final preparations for the 2024 Cascade Collegiate Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which begin next week in Klamath Falls and set to be hosted by Oregon Tech on Friday, May 10th through 11th.
