Nichols Earns Spot On CSC Academic All-America Second Team

AUSTIN, Texas - College Sports Communicators released its list of 2023-24 Men's Track & Field/Cross Country All-America Teams on Wednesday, with graduate student Hunter Nichols earning a spot on the second team. Nichols was the only Academic All-American representing Eastern Oregon and the Cascade Collegiate Conference on this year's list.

A graduate student pursuing his Master's in Business Administration, Nichols finished the year with an impressive 3.79 GPA while competing all season long across two different teams.

Nichols led the Mountaineers to CCC Championships in both men's cross country and men's track and field, and was named the Outdoor Track & Field Male Track Athlete of the Meet after claiming victory in both the 5000-meter and 1500-meter races. Nichols went on to compete at the NAIA National Championships in Marion, Indiana, receiving All-American status for his 4th-place finish in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase. Earlier in the season, Nichols broke a 10-year-old indoor 3000-meter school record in a stacked field at the UW Husky Classic. On the course, Nichols finished 11th at the CCC Cross Country Championships in Caldwell, Idaho.

Nichols was also recently named CSC Academic All-District as well as an NAIA Daktronics All-American for his exceptional work in the classroom this season.
