San Francisco Giants Select Drake George in 13th Round of MLB Draft

ARLINGTON, Texas – Warrior Baseball's Drake George became the first LC State Baseball player since 2018 to be selected in the MLB Draft on Tuesday. The righty from Riddle, Ore., was picked up in the 13th round (Pick 388) by the San Francisco Giants.

He is the first Warrior under Jake Taylor to be picked in the draft and first from the program since Gage Burland went in the 22nd round in 2018 (Toronto Blue Jays). He is the 140th LC State Warrior to be drafted.

"We are all very excited for Drake and what his future will hold at the next level," Taylor said. "He will always be a Warrior and we are thrilled to watch his journey unfold."

George competed for LC State for three seasons and was the ace of the starting rotation during the 2024 season. He was voted the Cascade Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year, along with teammate Shane Spencer, after he led the Warriors with 13 starts. He earned a 6-2 record over the course of the season with a 4.91 ERA. George struck out 74 batters and walked 21 in 66 innings and allowed just four home runs.

The junior had standout performances throughout the year, most notably with eight strikeouts and no walks in eight shutout innings against No. 2 LSU Shreveport. He fanned 10 without a walk in six innings against Eastern Oregon, and had nine strikeouts in a complete game against UBC.

George was voted the CCC Pitcher of the Week three times and was named the LCSPYs Co-Male Breakthrough Athlete of the Year by his LC State peers.
