CORVALLIS, Ore. –
The following nine CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Cascade Collegiate Conference Players of the Week for their performances during competition from September 23 – 29, 2024.
Women’s Golf – Golfer
University of British Columbia’s Grace Bell was named the CCC Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Bell (73-70-77 – 220), a senior from Calgary, Alta., earned a runner up finish at the True North Classic this week. Her performance was highlighted by a 2-under-par showing in the second round, helping lead the Thunderbirds to a team title.
Men’s Cross Country – Runner
No. 13-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Kobe Wessels was named the CCC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Wessels, a junior from Lewiston, Idaho, led the Warriors at the fiercely contested Gans Creek Classic on Friday, finishing among the top 15 NAIA runners. He secured 40th place out of 388 competitors, clocking a time of 25:09.8 in the 8k.
Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Corban University’s Isaac Pureco was named the CCC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Pureco, a red-shirt junior goalkeeper from Woodburn, Ore., led the Warriors to an undefeated weekend against Oregon Tech (3-1) and No. 24-ranked Southern Oregon University (0-0). He played full time in the net during both matches, only allowing one goal and completing seven saves for a .875 save percentage.
Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Carroll College’s Felix Billard was named the CCC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. For the second consecutive week.
Billard, a sophomore forward from Mallorco, Spain, continued his hot start to league play with two 2-0 victories over Multnomah and (RV) Warner Pacific University. This weekend he registered five total shots, three of which were on target, scoring once in each match for a .600 shot on goal percentage.
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Southern Oregon University’s Miller Bertani was named the CCC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Bertani, a junior defender from San Jose, Calif., led a back line that didn't allow a single shot in a 2-0 win against Bushnell University. The next day, she recorded her first assist of the season as the Raiders gave up just two shots on goal in a 3-0 victory over Corban University.
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Carroll College’s Delaney Moczan was named the CCC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Moczan, a sophomore forward from Las Vegas, Nev., was instrumental in an impressive pair of shutouts this weekend against Multnomah (7-0) and Warner Pacific University (2-0). She recorded 10 total shots, eight of which were on target, scoring three total for a .800 shot on goal percentage.
Volleyball – Attacker
No. 5-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Marin Mackey was named the CCC Attacker of the Week.
Mackey, a senior outside hitter from Richland, Wash., averaged 4.33 kills per set on a .246 average with 13 in each shutout over Northwest University and The Evergreen State College this weekend. She also added 16 digs, four blocks, and an assist.
Volleyball – Defender
No. 5-ranked Southern Oregon University’s Kayla Neidigh was named the CCC Defender of the Week.
Neidigh, a senior defensive specialist from Salem, Ore., totaled 35 digs (5.83 d/s) over the weekend and recorded 26 service receptions without an error. She led the Raiders who held their opponents, Northwest and Evergreen, to team attacking averages of .065 and .000 in back-to-back sweeps.
Volleyball – Setter
Oregon Tech’s Lucy Boyd was named the CCC Setter of the Week.
Boyd, a freshmen setter from Cave Creek, Ariz., had a stellar weekend for OIT. She averaged 12.67 a/s, 2.33 d/s, 1.50 k/s and 1.00 b/s in the Owls two shutouts against Evergreen and Northwest.
