"Terrific day one for the Warrior men!" exclaimed Corban assistant coach Evan Inglesby. "Tournament personal records for both Brayden and Owen Heath, and I'm so happy to see the results after grinding the last few weeks. Amazing 80 degrees and sunny as well. So proud of this group and hope to continue this success into day two."
The Navy and Gold jumped out to a hot start today and kept consistently getting better as the day progressed, allowing them to secure a 290 team score to trail Southwestern Oregon Community College on the team scoreboard by four strokes. Fellow Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) member Oregon Tech is five strokes behind Corban, with Bushnell University and Southern Oregon University in fourth and fifth, respectively.
On an individual basis, junior Brayden Sparkman had one of his best collegiate rounds to date with a 69 (-3) which placed him in second place overall and four strokes off the top position, with senior Max McDonough in a five-way tie for fifth after he secured an even 72 on the day. Sophomore Owen Heath wrapped up a round of 73 to represent the third Warrior in the individual top ten among the 53-man field, followed by sophomore David Harvey and his 76 for a fourth in the top 25 placers thus far.
