VANCOUVER, B.C. – It was a successful first day of the 2025 Cascade Collegiate Conference Baseball Championship, presented by U.S. Bank. The tournament resumes Saturday morning, with the teams battling for a place in the championship game.
 
#5 seed College of Idaho def. #4 seed Bushnell University, 8-3
Game 1: C of I won 8-3. Ben Gaff powered the Yotes' offense with a standout performance, going 4-for-5 at the plate, including three doubles, and three runs to lead the charge. On the mound, Oliver Massie was dominant, tossing seven strong innings while allowing just one earned run on three hits and striking out seven to earn the win. Bushnell was paced by Reece Carganilla, who drove in two of the Beacons' three runs. College of Idaho advances to face top-seeded British Columbia later tonight. Bushnell will face the loser of Game 2 tomorrow morning in the tournament’s first elimination game.
 
#2 seed Lewis-Clark State College def. #3 seed Oregon Tech, 6-1
Game 2: LC State won 6-1. The Warriors got off to a fast start with a two-run homer in the first inning by Charlie Updegrave. Brandon Cabrera delivered a standout performance at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs to lead LCSC. On the mound, Evan Canfield was dominant, tossing seven shutout innings to earn the win. OIT’s lone run came via a solo homer from Julien Jones. Oregon Tech will face Bushnell in the first elimination game tomorrow at 11 a.m. Lewis-Clark State advances to play top-seeded UBC tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
 
#1 seed University of British Columbia def. #5 seed College of Idaho, 11-1
Game 3: UBC won 11-1 in seven innings. Jonny McGill powered the Thunderbirds’ offense, blasting two home runs while scoring three times and driving in three runs. On the mound, Will Anderson went six innings and allowed just one run on six hits to earn the win. Jace Mahlke paced the Yotes with two hits and a run. College of Idaho drops into the elimination bracket and will face Bushnell at 11 a.m. tomorrow. British Columbia moves on to another highly anticipated matchup against Lewis-Clark State at 2:30 p.m.
