KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Sophomore Chase Nye represents the Bushnell University baseball team as the first-ever Beacon to receive a national Gold Glove Award, earning the recognition at third base as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) office.
In partnership with the American Baseball Coaches Association, the NAIA released the 2025 ABCA-Rawlings-NAIA Baseball Gold Glove Team on Wednesday. The nine position winners, chosen based upon their defensive success, were selected by the NAIA Baseball Coaches Association All-America Committee.
Nye was named a Cascade Collegiate Conference Gold Glove honoree in May, voted on by CCC head baseball coaches. The sophomore had just two errors all season (zero at third base) and finished with a .986 fielding percentage. He primarily played third base and shortstop but also saw time in the outfield.
In addition to his success on defense, Nye was fourth on the team in batting, hitting .309 with a team-high 55 hits, adding 11 doubles and 17 RBI. He made 46 starts in his 47 games played in his second season with the Beacons.
He helped Bushnell (32-20) to a historic fourth season in which they posted a new record for wins and were 12-games over .500.
