GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The No. 4-ranked University of Providence women's wrestling program defeated No. 12-ranked Southern Oregon University 25-19 Thursday night.
In the first match of the night the Argos started strong with #1 ranked and 2024 National Champion Erin Hikiji defeating Diamond Lopez 10-0 to put UP in front 4-0.
The Argos would drop matches at 110 and 124, but at 117 junior Kayla Vail defeated Caroline Farris 8-4 and at 131 freshman Lucia Schlapfer used a late takedown to defeat Eliza Goodwin which put the Argos ahead 11-9.
UP would continue their momentum with senior Kailey Rees pinning Myelie Seigla in 1:52 and senior Ty Takamori cruised past Katleyn Wiseman with a 12-0 victory.
The Argos fell at 180 and 207, but at 160 #5 Aspen Dodge pinned Audrey Segura in 1:15 to clinch the Argos 25-19 victory over #12 Southern Oregon.
With the Argos 12
th dual win of the year, they have now set a new program record for the most dual wins in a single season.
The Argos will be back in action Jan. 23-24 when they head to Fort Wayne, Ind. for the Warrior Open.
