SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Oregon Tech salvaged a key series split with The Master's riding stellar pitching and a 14-hit attack to a 10-2 victory at Herwaldt Stadium.
Three pitchers combined on a six-hitter, holding the Mustangs (6-8) big bats at bay, with the Owls using a 5-run fourth inning to break open a close game.
OIT (7-3) scored twice in the second, as Dylan Edwards drove home a run with a ground out and Nick Gimino singled in a run, with the Owls making it 3-0 in the third after a 2-out error scored pinch runner JoJo Roman from second.
After TMU got a run back in their third, Tech quickly made it 4-1 on an Edwards solo homer, with a Logan Pontecorvo RBI single and 2-run Michael O'Daniel triple extending the margin to 8-1.
It was enough for the Hustlin' Owls arms, as Lundquist went five innings, allowing two hits and a run for the win, with Cheney throwing three strong innings working around four hits and Caleb Randolph tossed a 1-2-3 ninth.
Andrew Sharp, Gimino and Pontecorvo each had 3-hit games in the win for OIT.
Tech is scheduled to open the Cascade Conference season next weekend against Corban – with the day, time and location to be determined due to expected snow in the Klamath Basin this week.
