Conference Qualifying Marks Aplenty as Warriors and NCAA Bearcats Complete Annual Dual

SALEM, Ore. – The three-day head-to-head annual dual between crosstown rivals concluded earlier this evening at McCulloch Stadium, as the Corban University Men's and Women's Track & Field programs secured numerous Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) qualifying marks against NCAA DIII Willamette University to clinch even more Warriors who will be attending the 2026 CCC Championships this upcoming May in eastern Oregon.

"We had a fun day finishing up our annual competition with Willamette," detailed Corban head coach Todd Bos. They are great hosts and provide excellent competition for our teams. We had great weather and having the entire programs together alongside securing even more conference qualifying marks made for a fun week. We especially appreciated Willamette's student-athletes joining in our team's prayer circle at the end of the meet."

Additionally, Bos shared, "A quick break for spring break and then back at it with some gusto. We have a long way to go as a complete team, and we pray God continues to bless our efforts and keep everyone healthy."

Eight brand-new CCC qualifying marks were hit today by Corban student-athletes, alongside six unique program top 10 bests in their respective events. A healthy mix of both true freshmen and upperclassmen highlighted today's top marks, beginning in the men's decathlon which started on Tuesday and featured freshman Andrew Keena (5,099) and redshirt senior Anthony Salisbury (5,073) who placed third and fourth, respectively. Both Keena and Salisbury will compete in the CCC Multi-Event Championships next month in Ashland, but also hit the CCC qualifying marks individually in the men's javelin with throws of 54.92m for Salisbury and 47.16m for Keena. Keena's 5,099 points scored in the decathlon is the new No. 7-overall mark in program history.

On Wednesday afternoon, senior Madelynn Straus competed in the women's hammer throw for the first time in her Corban career and took second place behind her 37.79 toss on her third attempt, qualifying her for the CCC Championships in the process. Her mark is the seventh best in school history despite only just starting the event during her senior season of competition.

Every other conference qualification mark occurred during today's 24 events at McCulloch Stadium on the campus of Willamette, with freshman Kaitlyn Edmonds' shot put throw of 10.65m exactly hitting the CCC passing mark as the last remaining field qualification of the week and breaking into the top 10 at No. 9-overall for the event in program history at the same time. On the track, senior Kirsten Kuenzi qualified in both the women's 100m and 200m using season best times of 12.54 and 26.38, with freshman Ava Barnett joining Kuenzi in the 200m prerequisite thanks to a sub-26 second time of 25.99 to place second in the event. Barnett's 12.83 100m time is also the tenth fastest finish by a Warrior in program history. Finally, sophomore Julianna Bell, who has already qualified in the women's triple jump, secured a new personal best of 10.14m to move up to eighth all-time in the record book.

Straus will be joined by a pair of high jumpers in freshman Ethan Medyanik and redshirt senior Kayla Morgan alongside junior thrower Aden Dardis this upcoming weekend for the 2026 Pacific Northwest Invitational, hosted by NCAA DI Oregon State University in Corvallis at the Whyte Track and Field Center.
