KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kaile'a Ontai of Corban University, a junior defensive specialist/libero from Pearl City, Hawaii, has been named the NAIA Women's Volleyball Defender of the Week.
Ontai, who is currently leading the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) in digs per set with an impressive 4.61, showcased her defensive skills in matches against No. 1 Eastern Oregon and No. 19 College of Idaho. Over the course of eight sets, Ontai amassed a staggering 47 digs, averaging 5.88 digs per set. Her defensive efforts were instrumental in Corban's four-set victories over both teams.
Ontai also contributed to her team's success by adding ten assists and two service aces across the two matches.
During the match against Eastern Oregon, Ontai recorded 19 digs, three assists and one service ace, maintaining a reception percentage of .941. Her performance was even more remarkable against the College of Idaho, where she tallied 28 digs, seven assists, and one service ace, achieving a perfect reception percentage of 1.000.
