Day One of the 2026 NAIA Men’s and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – [RESULTS] The opening day of the 2026 NAIA Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships completed. The Cascade Collegiate Conference saw five All-Americans crowned including two National Champions at Karl Straus Track in Asheville, North Carolina.

On the men's side in the Javelin, Lewis-Clark State College junior Perry Severijnse recorded a throw of 60.94m to finish seventh overall, while University of British Columbia senior Jordan Dickhof followed closely behind in eighth with a mark of 60.90m as both athletes secured All-America status. 

In the hammer throw, Eastern Oregon University senior Mark Church delivered a personal-best mark of 59.03m to place fifth overall and earn NAIA All-America honors. 

The second day of the men's championship will begin with the remaining decathlon events at 11 a.m. ET, starting with the 110-meter hurdles.
On the women's side, British Columbia senior Sonya Urbanowicz delivered a record setting performance in the women’s pole vault, clearing 4.28m to win her fourth consecutive NAIA national title in the event. Her mark set a new championship record, matched her personal best and added 10 points to the Thunderbirds’ team total.

Amelia Cha of British Columbia continued the momentum for the Thunderbirds with a first place finish in the women’s long jump. Cha recorded a wind-aided leap of 6.27m to secure another national title and score an additional 10 team points.

The second day of the women's championship will begin with the remaining heptathlon events at 9:30 a.m. ET, starting with the long jump.
