BILLINGS, Mont. - A game-winning goal from Charlize Davis in the 67th minute propelled the Battlin' Bears to a 2-1 home victory over Arizona Christian on Monday morning.
A staggering 29-7 shot advantage told the story of the match, as Rocky's relentless offensive pressure ultimately broke through to secure their second consecutive victory.
How it Happened
Rocky seized the lead in the first half when Molly Loughton fired a strike from the right side of the box. Although the initial shot was saved, Ari Mercado pounced on the rebound to net her first goal in a Battlin' Bear uniform, sending Rocky into halftime with a 1-0 advantage. The Battlin' Bear defense dominated possession early, suppressing the Firestorm to just three shot attempts through the opening 45 minutes.
Arizona Christian leveled the match in the 52nd minute after Rian Gaeta intercepted a Rocky clearance attempt and swiftly turned a shot into the back of the net.
Fifteen minutes later, Molly Loughton sparked the decisive attack once again. Dribbling past multiple Firestorm defenders, she delivered a crisp pass to Charlize Davis, who snuck her fourth goal of the season past the keeper to put Rocky ahead for good.
