CCC Announces U.S. Bank Scholar-Athletes of the Year

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon Tech’s McKenna Armantrout was named the 2021-22 Cascade Collegiate Conference U.S. Bank Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while Warner Pacific University’s Kai Flugel and Lewis-Clark State College’s Clayton VanDyke were named the U.S. Bank Male Co-Scholar-Athletes of the Year, announced Tuesday morning by the conference office.
 
The CCC’s top academic honor comes after the conference’s athletic directors voted on a ballot of nominees.
 
Armantrout, a senior from Klamath Falls, Ore., helped the Owls win back-to-back CCC Softball Tournament Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, and looks to keep Oregon Tech’s season going as the Owls are in Georgia for the NAIA Softball Championship. The Owls’ team captain maintains a 4.00 GPA and is a four-time CCC All-Academic and three time CCC scholar-athlete honoree. Armantrout also picked up her third All-CCC honor this year.  
 

 
Other Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year nominees: Bushnell University’s Shay Coons, Corban University’s Avari Ridgway, College of Idaho’s Haley Loffer, Eastern Oregon University’s Taylor Stricklin, Lewis-Clark State College’s Channa Hart, Northwest University’s Callie Wright, Rocky Mountain College’s Tiara Duford, Southern Oregon University’s Kami Walk, and Warner Pacific University’s Emma Foster.
 
Flugel, a senior from Nampa, Idaho, also boasts a perfect 4.00 GPA while holding down the backline for the Knights. The All-CCC defender is a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete, an Academic All-Conference selection, and proceeded as far as a 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team member for his efforts both on the field and in the classroom.
 

 
VanDyke picks up the honor for the second year in a row after a stellar track season – that is still going on. During the indoor season, the Vernal, Utah, native was the national champion in the 800m with a time of one minute, 50.89 seconds and was named the West Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. In the outdoor season, he repeated as the CCC 800m and 1500m champion and has has set five LCSC track records. VanDyke, who boasts a 3.92 GPA, is set to compete at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship later this week.
 

 
Other Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year nominees: Bushnell University’s Andrew Webb, College of Idaho’s Nathan Burman, Eastern Oregon University’s Keegan Mulhill, Northwest University’s Tyler Siedenburg, Oregon Tech’s Mayson Tibbs, Rocky Mountain College’s Milo Downey, Southern Oregon University’s Tez Allen, and Vanguard University’s Ricky Padilla.
