CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following four CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Dec. 4 – 10, 2023.
Men’s Basketball – Player
Multnomah’s Miles Macadory was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Macadory, a senior forward from Dallas, Texas, helped lead the Multnomah Lions to two huge non-conference wins. In the 76-65 upset over No. 5-ranked Arizona Christian University, he recorded a game-high of 26 points (on 9-of-13 shooting) along with five rebounds. The next day against competitive Ottawa University Arizona, he tallied nine points and grabbed four rebounds to help the Lions to a 92-90 victory. On the week, Macadory made three assists and 8-of-12 3-pointers while shooting 48 percent in 50 total minutes played.
Women’s Basketball – Player
Bushnell University’s Libby Mathis was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Mathis, a senior center from Gresham, Ore., led Bushnell to its second CCC win of the season. In the 53-48 defeat over Corban University, she recorded an impressive double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds. She also completed a steal, two blocks, and four assists while making 5-of-9 free throws in the Beacons win during 37 total minutes played.
Men's Wrestling – Wrestler
No. 6-ranked University of Providence’s Caleb Werner was named the Rize Laboratory Men's Wrestler of the Week.
Werner, a 184lbs redshirt junior from Tillamook, Ore., made big moves on the mat last Thursday to lead the Argos to a 28-15 dual defeat over (RV) Eastern Oregon University. He moved up to the 197lbs weight class to compete against No. 14 Jay Smith, winning in a competitive 4-3 decision.
Women's Wrestling – Wrestler
No.4-ranked University of Providence’s Erin Hikiji was named the Rize Laboratory Women's Wrestler of the Week.
Hikiji, a sophomore from Mililani, Hawaii, is ranked 1st individually at 101lbs and went 4-0 on Sunday at the North Central Open. She took first place by defeating No. 10 Riley Banyas of Campbellsville University and No. 6 Esther Walker of Midland University, both in unscathed tech falls. She then highlighted the tournament, taking down No. 1 Maddie Avila (NWCA/NCAA) by a 13-8 decision in the championship match, leading the Argos to a second place team finish.
