Rize Laboratory Players of the Week Announced

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following seven CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from Sept. 4 – 10, 2023.

Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Multnomah University’s Pablo Mendoza was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Mendoza, a senior goalkeeper from Beaverton, Ore., had three saves this week. This included a 4-0 shutout over Cal-Maritime University on Saturday along with a 3-2 loss to University of Puget Sound on Tuesday.

Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Rocky Mountain College’s Angel Mange was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Mange, a sophomore midfielder from Las Vegas, Nev., scored his third goal of the season just four minutes into the match against University of Jamestown. He later found his teammate on a beautiful through pass that led to the game-tying goal as Rocky defeated Jamestown 3-2 on Saturday.

Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player
Multnomah University’s Javanae Jones was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Jones, a sophomore goalkeeper from Kingston, Jamaica, led the Lions to their first two wins of the season. She completed two shutouts on Friday and Saturday against Lincoln University (3-0) and Cal-Maritime University (6-0) with a total of seven saves on the weekend.

Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player
Corban University’s Alysia Alvarado was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Alvarado, a junior midfielder from Salem, Ore., scored three goals in two matches as the Corbans’ leading scorer this weekend, responsible for 75% of the offense with nine shots, four of which were on goal for a .444% shot on goal percentage. The Warriors defeated Whitman College (2-1) and tied with Whitworth University (2-2).
 
Volleyball – Attacker
Corban University’s Rylee Troutman was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Attacker of the Week for the second time this season.

Troutman, a junior outside hitter from Powell Butte, Ore., registered two more double-doubles with 43 kills, 29 digs, and five blocks over ten sets. This raised her season kills per set average to 3.98 percent and 177 in total on the year, both conference bests. Corban moved to 5-0 in CCC play with three victories this week over Bushnell University (3-1), Northwest University (3-0), and The Evergreen State College (3-0).
 
Volleyball – Defender
No. 5-ranked Corban University’s Marissa Uehara was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Defender of the Week.
 
Uehara, a junior defensive specialist from Kaneohe, Hawaii., locked down the backcourt with three straight double-digit dig matches in three huge wins for Corban. She averaged 12.0 digs per match while dishing out 12 assists in her emergency setter role, on top of three service aces, to help lead to another perfect week for the Warriors.
 
Volleyball – Setter
Corban University’s Abby Guindy was named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week for the second time this season.

Guindy, a sophomore setter from San Jose, Calif., climbed the CCC leaderboard over the week to land in the second overall spot for assists with 5.91 per set. Her game-high assist totals grew game-by-game this week in three-straight wins with 20 digs in the backcourt, logging 18, 19, and 23 dimes against the Beacons, Eagles, and Geoducks, respectively, to average 6.00 per set. She topped off her stellar performance with four service aces.
