CORVALLIS, Ore. – The following ten CCC student-athletes have been recognized as the Rize Laboratory Players of the Week for their performances during competition from April 8 – 14, 2024.
Baseball – Player
(RV) University of British Columbia’s Aaron Marsh was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Marsh, a junior infielder from Nanaimo, B.C., helped lead the Thunderbirds to a series sweep against College of Idaho. He recorded three doubles and a homerun for a .591 batting average and a .864 slugging percentage. Across the weekend he tallied 11 runs, 12 RBIs, and stole a base. Defensively he managed a perfect fielding percentage.
Baseball – Pitcher
No. 9-ranked Lewis-Clark State College’s Drake George was named the Rize Laboratory Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.
George, a junior from Riddle, Ore., had a fantastic outing on the mound against No. 2-ranked LSU Shreveport, leading the Warriors to a 1-0 victory. In seven innings he did not allow a run and struck out eight batters for a perfect ERA.
Softball – Player
No. 19-ranked College of Idaho’s Lena Zahniser was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Player of the Week.
Zahniser, a sophomore infielder from Bend Ore., was dominant in the Yotes wins over University of Providence and Carroll College. At the plate, she recorded six hits in eight at bats for a .750 batting average and a 1.250 slugging percentage. She added four RBIs and four runs on top of a homerun. Defensively, she recorded a .889 fielding percentage.
Softball – Pitcher
No. 15-ranked Eastern Oregon University’s Kaylie Hoskins was named the Rize Laboratory Softball Pitcher of the Week for the sixth time this season.
Hoskins, a junior from Lake Stevens, Wash., kept her momentum on the mound in the Mounties series against Carroll College. She did not allow a run and struck out an impressive 25 batters in 11 innings for a perfect ERA.
Men’s Golf – Golfer
College of Idaho’s Tristan Belue was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Golfer of the Week.
Belue, a senior from Hardin, Mont., was the individual champion at the Walla Walla Invite on Monday (72-73 – 145). He then tied for 5th place last weekend at the Nighthawk Challenge (74-70 – 144).
Women’s Golf – Golfer
No. 18-ranked Oregon Tech’s Quincy Beyrouty was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Beyrouty (77-78 – 155), a senior from Salem, Ore., finished 3rd out of 31 golfers last weekend at the Nighthawk Challenge, helping lead OIT to a 2nd place team finish.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
University of British Columbia’s Andrew Davies was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Davies, a senior runner from Sarnia, Ont., finished 5th with a time of 29:03.01 in the 10000m at the Bryan Clay Invitational. This qualified as an A standard which currently ranks at the top in the NAIA this season and set a program record.
Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
University of British Columbia’s Matthew Uliana was named the Rize Laboratory Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
Uliana, a sophomore thrower from Vancouver, B.C., placed 16th for A standards in both of his hammer throws this weekend with distances of 56.60m and 62.24m, which currently ranks 3rd in the NAIA this season.
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Athlete
Lewis-Clark State College’s Madigan Kelly was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
Kelly, a junior runner from Lewiston, Idaho, had a successful weekend at the Whitworth Twilight. She placed 1st in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.87 for an A standard which currently ranks 5th in the NAIA this season. She also competed in the 4x100m relay (47.31) and the 4x400m relay (3:56.44).
Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Athlete
University of British Columbia’s Rebecca Dutchak was named the Rize Laboratory Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Dutchak, a junior from Victoria, B.C., earned a score of 5029 in the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational. She finished 1st for an A standard which currently ranks at the top of the NAIA this season.
